GUARD FOR WOOL

Storemen On Strike (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, September 3. Wool valued at more than £1,000,000 is being held under guard in railway goods yards throughout New South Wales. It is in railway trucks which cannot be unloaded because of a strike by storemen and packers employed in wool stores. Railway traffic officials will meet in Sydney tomorrow afternoon to discuss whether the department can continue to receive consignments of wool at country sidings. “While the strike is on, the trucks cannot be unloaded once they reach their terminal destinations," the spokesman said. The strikers claim that employers have absorbed 5s 6d of the recent 12s federal basic wage rise and are demanding that they be granted the full increase.
