Situation.—An anti-cyclone centred to the south-east of the South Island extends over New Zealand. A trough of low pressure is advancing towards the north of New Zealand from the west. Forecast:

, Marlborough.—Moderate to fresh south-east winds, strong at first about Cook Strait; Cloudy skies with occasional light showers chiefly about the ranges; cool temperatures. Outlook: cloudy with some rain late in the day. Nelson, Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate variable winds; frosts at night but moderate day temperatures. Outlook: becoming cloudy with some light rain in Nelson late in the day.

Canterbury.—Light to moderate variable winds, north-easterlies predominating near the coast: cloudy at first with a few light showers north or Banks Peninsula hut becoming partly cloudly in most areas during the day; temperatures cool. Outlook: partly cloudy.
