RAILWAYS CLERK TO RETIRE

Mr L. W. F. Besley Forty years’ service with the Railways Department will end on Monday for Mr L, W. F. Besley, an accounts clerk at the Christchurch office. He will be bidden farewell and will receive a presentation from the district manager (Mir E. C. Brittenden). Mr Besley joined the department as a cadet in the traffic department in Christchurch in 1921 After a few months he was transferred to Wanganui, where he spent three years. From Wanganui he moved to the Auckland district traffic manager's office and, about 1926. to the department’s head office in Wellington, where he spent a year. Returning to Christchurch in 1927 Mr Besley was later transferred to Coalgate foe three years. He has also been stationed at Rangiora and Lyttelton.
