Heavy Lambs Easier (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 25. There was a steady trade at Smithfield market in London this week, with New Zealand lamb prices remaining steady except for slight easing in the heavier grades, according to the market information service of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board. Pitchings of home-killed beef remained heavy, but there was a shortage of quality offerings and a continuing shortage of Argentine beef. This was largely offset by substantial pitchings of home-killed lambs. Large quantities of good quality, medium - weight home-killed lambs were at Is 6d a lb. There were light pitchings of New Zealand mutton at unchanged prices. New Zealand beef was not quoted. Prices for New Zealand meat, ex hooks Smithfield, in the week ended August 25. with the variation since the previous week, are quoted as follows: Canterbury Lamb d. Overseas Assets Lower I N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 25. Net overseas assets of the New. Zealand banking system on August 16. 1961, were £ 51.3 m, compared with £ 53.3 m on August 9, 1961, and £lll.Bm on August 17. 1960. These figures were announced today by the Reserve Bank. Motels Of Aust.—Motels of Australia, Ltd., and its subsidiary companies earned a net profit of £101,413 during the year ended June 30. This was equal to 16.69 per cent, on average ordinary capital. It compares with a net profit of £33,763 the previous year.
