RADIO NEWS EDITING
Explanation By Director (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Aug. 13. 8.8. C. newsreels and other news background features broadcast over New Zealand radio stations are being edited in New Zealand, but this is being done merely to bring them up to date and to present them more effectively to New Zealand audiences This was explained by the Director of Broadcasting (Mr J. H. E. Schroder). »
Asked why the ’newsreels were not appearing with their usual introduction, Mr Schroder Mid: “We are quite at liberty to edit them, but it is merely an editing, not a censorship.’’ Mr Schroder said that the Broadcasting Service received 0M from the 8.8. C. and the other from the British Commonwealth International News Association. At times these had to be edited, because of lapse of because of listener “We have one aim-to pro<?°v d J programme,” said Mr Schroder.
