£1350 RAISED IN STREET APPEAL
Blinded Servicemen And Families Slightly more than £1350 was collected by the Canterbury Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen’s Association in its street appeal for blinded servicemen and their families yesterday. An appeal for the Mayor’s Coal and Blanket Fund was held in conjunction.
The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) said last everting he was very delighted with the effort and was glad to see such a warm response. He wished to thank the collectors, in particular. The president of the association (Mr H. G. Smith) also thanked the public and the 200 collectors. Members of the association, supporters of the fund and the public had collected in the city and suburbs, he said.
This year’s appeal raised pearly £3OO more than the last appeal held by the association in 1959, when about £lOBO was collected.
