DERRY’S BAND

Mr Aldridge Resigns As Conductor Mr V. A. G. Aldridge, who has been conductor of Derry’s Band tor more than 12 years, has resigned from that position. Mr Aldridge said yesterday the band wias in a sound financial position, and he hoped it would continue to be successful. Mr Aldridge has completed 41 years’ service in brass bands. He played solo cornet tor both the &t. Kikia and Woolston bands. He became conductor of Derry’s Band in 1948 and took it into the A Grade by winning the B Grade championship at Invercargill in 1956.
