P.M. “Minced No Words” (HXP.A -Renter—CopyrtoM) LONDON. July *. The New Zealand Prime Minister (Mr Rolyoake) minced no words during his talks with Mr Duncan Sandys on the possibility of Britain's joining the European Common Market, according to the “Daily Express." The ' newspaper s corre-j apondent said Mr Holyoake I told him to tell New Zealand's side of the story to Britons who liked and wanted New Zeeland goods "at a reasonable price." He should tell them: “We built our great dairy ex-' port trade on Britain's needs. "We are Britain's larder, a well-stocked larder that has never been bare in Britain's times of greatest need. “Our farmers are the most efficient in the world. ; “New Zealand lives by its exports. Our farms, | dairy factories, freezing works, docks and trans- i port systems are geared) to our huge exports to' Britain.” The correspondent said Mr I Holyoake bad Spoken of the; big two-way trade between Britain and New Zealand, and added: “This is no onesided arrangement. New •Zealand gives substantial preferences to British imports. “That is just how serious our position is. We just cannot contemplate Britain joining the Common Market without some adequate and concrete compensatory measures. “That is why New Zealand claims the continued right of unrestricted and duty-free access to the United Kingdom for our meat and dairy produce. It is the whole basis of our economy.”
