Estimates For 1961-62 Constituent councils of the Christcfaunch Regional Planning Authority wiU contribute one-six*ieith of a penny in the £ of adjusted capital rateable values to meet the estimated cost of the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority’s work in 1961-62 The levy will produce £l6i!4. of which the City Council wiH be called on to meet £lO 818. The o her contributions will be:—Riccarton Boroush Council. £578; Katapoi borough £162: county. £96: Halswell. £177; Heathcote. £501; Paparua, £1081; Waimairi, £2BOl. Estimates approved by the authority yesterday were for an expenditure of £18.745. compared with £19.125 last year, including £6OO as expenses for the air pollution survey which will be met by separa’e contributions. The major item of expenditure is £13,419 estimated for salaries. This compares with £12.144 spent last year. The authority began the year with a credit balance of £lB3l. He would have preferred to see the levy one-fiftieth of a penny, said the chairman (Mr E. J. Bradshaw), but the execu' ive had recommended the lesser amount. “I am a little concerned that we have cut out the transfer of £lOOO to the publishing fund reserve,” he said. “It would be a tragedy if the work was hampered by a lack of funds We are left in the position where we are likely to finish 'he year with a deficiency for the first time.”
