Macmillan On Trade Split

The Prime Minister (Mr Macmillan) said in Cardiff last night that if the two main trade groups of Europe drifted apart he feared the only benefit would be to the Communists. Asked if he thought the United Kingdom would help unity in Europe by joining the Common Market, he said a workable agreement between the two groups would help to achieve it.
