MEN’S B GRADE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Canterbury Wins At Ashburton (N.Z. Press Association) ASHBURTON, July 3. Bettei team work, anil the ability to make fast breaks retained the South Island men’s B grade Indoor basketball title for Canterbury at the Ashburton Sports Hall on Saturday. Canterbury was unbeaten in the tournament and completed a good display with a win over South Canterbury by 38-83 to the final. Canterbury led. 18-16, at halftime. South Canterbury's concentration lapsed during the closing stages at an exciting final. Concluding day results were: Nelson 54, Mid-Canterbury 49; Dunedin Mercantile 54. Harihari 27; Canterbury 36. Motueka 29: Nelson 62 South Canterbury 61: Motueks 55. Dunedin Mercantile 44; Canterbury 36. Harihari 25.
