CLOSE RESULT IN BADMINTON
Rangiora Anglican Beats Latimer, 9-7 The Rangiora Anglican Badminton Club had a narrow win against the Latimer Club in a recent C grade match. Rangiora won 9-7. Tile Rangiora team was dominant in the women’s matches, but lost most of the men's games. Two young members of the Rangiora Club. Judy Vines and David Broughton, have gained representative honours In the Canterbury D team. Results, with Latimer players first, are:— Men's Singles.—R. James beat E. Lander. 15-7; W. Christie beat A. Matthews, 15-7; R. Crook lost to C. Lilley, 8-15; G. Visser lost to B. McKendry 4-15. Women's Singles.—J. Condliffe lost to M. Fraser, 4-11: M. McNeil beat M. Booker. 12-9; L. Hurrell lost to I. Sinclair. 5-11; J. Scott lost to J. Chapman, 0-11. Men's Doubles.—James and Christie beat Lander and Matthews. 17-15; Crook and Visser lost to Lilley and McKendry, 17-18.
Women's Doubles..—McNeil and Condliffe lost to Fraser and Booker, 10-15; Hurrell and Scott lost to Sinclair and Chapman. 7-15.
Mixed Doubles.—James and McNeil lost to Fraser and Lander. 12-15; Christie and Condliffe beat Booker and Matthews, 18-13; Crook and Hurrell beat Sinclair and Lilley. 15-13: Visser and Scott beat Chapman and McKendry, 15-7.
