The captains in the early match are D. G. Harker (Wellington) and T. D Coughlin (King Country) The vice-captains are W. S. S. Freebairn (Manawatu) and P. T. Walsh (Auckland). The 1.30 p.m. match will be refereed by Mr W. R. Crane (Bush), and the 3 p.m. match by Mr N. Sciascia (Horowhenua). Mr A. Forrest (West Coast) will referee the South Island trial match at Tlmaru. The appointments were approved at today’s meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union's executive.
