NEW USE FOR JET BOAT
Oxidation Pond Work
“The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, June 9. A 16-foot jet boat of th« type developed by Mr C. W F Hamilton, of Christchurch will be used by the Auckland Metropolitan Drainage Board to break up any large formations of scum floating on the oxidation ponds at the Mangere treatment works. The board has decided to buy the boat for £1450. A works committee report said a jet boat would help to prevent any serious nuisance within the ponds. It would also be valuable for sampling the ponds for chemical and bacteriological data, as well as for midge control within the present research programme. The let boat could also be used for towing pontoons.
