SCOUTING.—These pictures symbolise the birth and growth of the Boy Scout movement. The photograph on the left was taken when Lieutenant-General R. S. S. Baden-Powell—then remembered as the hero of Mafeking—tried out his ideas at the first Boy Scout camp at Brownsea Island in July, 1907. On the right are three of the three million wolf cubs who are among the nine million young people in the world-wide movement that has grown from Baden-Powell's brilliant conception. The pictures are from “B-P’s Scouts. An Official History,” which has just been published by Collins. The authors carry a grand story along at speed and enliven it with a host of anecdotes.
