High Cost Of Racing
(Special Crspdt N.Z.P A.) LONDON. June 9. It costs racehorse owners and breeders £4.340.000 a year to keep the sport of horse racing going in Britain and Ireland, according to a survey in the latest issue of the “Bloodstock Breeders' Review.” This estimates the total annnal outlay by owners and breeders to be £7.651.000. of which £4.775.000 was spent in training. £2.017.000 in rearing racing stock and £859.000 in stallion fees. Prize money, travelling grants and income from bloodstock sold for export amounted to £3,311.000. The “Review" says that the cost of rearing a racehorse to n yearling today stands at rrtr. '4,
