Karori Family Pestered By Persistent Hoaxer

(New Zealand Press Association)

A family living at Karori and several Wellington businesses have been pestered by a practical joker recently, their troubles ranging from attempts to sell the family’s property to the delivery of a variety of goods, including a piano. Mr and Mrs F. C Parsonage -st encountered She •hoax late on Wednesday afternoon, when a land agent arrived to sell their house, supposedly under directions from Mr Parsonage. Three-quarters of an hour later, a grocer arrived with £8 worth of groceries. Twenty mimr’es late a soft drtnk merchant rang up to ask whether Mr Parsonage had really asked for 10 cases to be delivered. At this stage, Mr Parsonage rang the police. There was no reprieve for the family for at 8 o’clock the next morning, a dealer

came with a truck to take away the furniture, at 10 a firm rang for confirmation of an order for electrical appliances. and at 11 a truck pulled up with a piano complete with stool and. music, which the family had not ordered. Mr Parsonage said he had no idea who would play such a trick on the family, and thought the whole thing "very peculiar." Those who have talked to the hoaxer on the phone say he has a deep voice. There have been no more hoaxes since Thursday morning.
