Kennedy Relaxes With Sore Back

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) PALM BEACH (Florida). June 9. President Kennedy sun-bathed and swam in warm waters in Florida today as he began three days of rest in an attempt to alleviate a nagging pain in his back.

The pain was caused by shovelling earth at a treeplanting ceremony in Ottawa last month. The President, who suffered discomfort from his back during his European tour and meeting with the Soviet Premier (Mr Khrushchev) in Vienna, returned last night to the same area where he struggled back to health after a major operation on his back more than six years ago. The White House said the trouble was comparatively minor this time and the strain should be cured by treatment shortly.
