Two college students, who set out from St. Margaret's Bay. near Dover, in an attempt to conquer the channel in a bath tub propelled by an outboard motor, had to give up after five hours because of the seas. The choppy seas also forced a 46-year-old Pole, Lex Wozniak, to give up his attempt to walk across the channel using 62ft waterskis and propelling himself with ski sticks.
