Fountainhead Withdrawn

The New Zealand sprinter Fountainhead will be withdrawn from the rich Queensland sprint, Stradbroke Handicap, after another disappointing run in Sydney on Saturday. The trainer, W. Jarvis, announced this today after contacting the horse’s owner in New Zealand. The Sydney jockey, J. Thompson, who was to have ridden Fountainhead, has now been booked to ride Mullin. Thompson wfill ride Drumconda in the Brisbane Cup. The Stradbroke favourite Fine and Dandy has done well since his brilliant win on Saturday. His trainer, H. Plant, was pleased with Fine and Dandy's condition today. Plant said Fine and Dandy would not race again or run in a barrier trial before the Stradbroke on Saturday week. He has not decided yet when Fine and Dandy will go north but it will probably be at the end of the week. The apprentice. K. Smith, who will ride Fine and Dandy in the Stradbroke, will go to Brisbane under the care of Plant to ride the gelding in all track work at Eagle Farm.

(N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA. May 29. An inquiry was held under rule 289 at the Rotorua Racing Club's meeting on Saturday into interference by Alinta (R. J. Sutherland) to Preferable (J. S. Humphries) and resultant interference to Cleat (G. F. Hughes) after passing the four-furlong peg in the County Handicap. After hearing evidence from the stipendiary steward and the riders concerned, the committee suspended Sutherland up to and including June 5 for careless riding.
