Youth Severely Injured

A youth suffered serious head injuries when a large American 'car skidded on a bend in Rocking Horse road. South Brighton, and slewed into a power pole about 11.30 p.m. on Saturday. He is Ronald Wilfred Rhind, aged 15, of 48 Rogers street, Sydenham. He was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where he was placed on the seriously ill list. His condition was reported last evening to be deteriorating, and he was deeply unconscious. Another passenger, Lyndon Henry Ritchie, of 773 Ferry road, suffered leg injuries and was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, where his condition was reported last evening as satisfactory. The driver of the car, David Stewart Holland, of 13 Abberley crescent, St. Albans, and Eric Morris, of 131 Bishop street, St. Albans, suffered minor head injuries and were treated at the casualty department of the Christchurch Hospital and discharged. The car was extensively damaged. There was an indentation more than a foot deep in the bodywork on the left side, and the hood was buckled upwards for about a foot.
