LAUNCH ON FIRE

Men Leap To Dinghy (N.2. Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 28. Two men leapt to safety to a small dinghy just before their 23ft cabin cruiser became a mass of flame in the Westhaven boat anchorage late on Saturday afternoon. Hundreds ot people gathered on the Birkenhead wharf, on the opposite side of the harbour, to watch the blaze as flames leapt more than 20 feet into the air. Only the hull of the launch remained when the outbreak was put out by firemen working from a private launch. One of the two men on board when the fire began. Mr H. Subritzky, of 29 Castle street. Grey Lynn, said the fire broke out in the engine. Footballer Breaks Cheek Bone (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. May 28. P. J. Flannery, captain of the Matakanui Rugby team, and last year’s Otago' captain, suffered a broken cheek bone in the Alexandra-Mata-kanui match at Omakau on Saturday. Flannery was admitted to the Dunstan Hospital, at Clyde.
