The South African Minister of Finance. Dr. Eben Donges. today described as “unfounded” rumours of a possible devaluation of the rand. The rand, the unit of South Africa’s new decimal currency. is equal to 10s, sterling.
Dr. Donges said persons who allowed themselves to be influenced by such unfounded rumours would only have themselves to blame far the consequences of “their illjudged action."
