PROBATION FOR RAPE
Two Sentenced To 3 Years
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 26. Two of seven youths convicted at Hamilton last week of raping a girl at Kinleith were sentenced to three years’ probation by Mr Justice Boys in the Supreme Court. Auckland, today. They are Pere Paul, aged 18, and Beniamin Nicholas, aged 19. Both are millhands. Their previous good character had influenced him in his decision, said the Judge. Of the other five two have already been sentenced to prison and three to probation. Paul and Nicholas were ordered to live and work as directed by the probation officer, abstain from liquor until they are 21 and pay £5O towards the cost of the prosecution. Mr G. D. Speight appeared for the Crown.
