Honevbone Family To Meet In City
About 90 members of the New Zealand branch of the Honeybone family will tomorrow live up to the family motto. "Gather together as often as you oar." The gathering will be held in the Selwyn street Lodge Hall. The Saturday before Whitsunday is always "Honeybone day.” 'when family reunions are held in various parts of the world. Most of the New Zealand Honeybones live in the South Island, but there is one familyin Auckland and one in Wellington. These two families are unable to come to the reunion this year. > The oldest living member of the family in this country, Mrs J. Honeybone of Sawyers Bay, Dunedin, will attend, together with about 11 other Dunedin Honeybones, including the youngest, two and a half month old Stuart Honeybone. Mr Peter Honeybone was the first member of the family to come to New Zealand. He arrived in the Crusader in 1870 and settled at Waikari. The three surviving members of his family. Mr G. Honeybone of Waikari. Mr E. P. Honeybone of Cheviot, and Mrs M. Carlyle of Kaiapoi will be at the function on Saturday. Other Honeybo-ncs are coming from Nelson. Oamaru. Hawarden, and Culverden. The Dunedin branch of the family are descended from Mr Peter Honeybone's cousin. Mr John Honeybone, who landed at Port Chalmers in 1870. Mrs M. Tullett is organising the reunion, and Mr H. Honeybone of Cheviot is the chairman. Miss M. Honeybone of Waikari is the junior chairman. Mrs Tullett has sent greetings to the reunions being held in London and Australia.
