DINE AND DANCE”
Sunday Hours Refused
A licence for a High street restaurant to conduct a “dine and dance" up to 3 a.m. on Sunday and from 6 pun. on Sunday to 12.30 a.m. on Monday was refused by the City Council on Wednesday evening. It granted a licence for the “normal hours.” which means that the entertainment must cease at midnight on Saturdays and not be held on Sunday evenings. The proprietor had bean using an open roof for a dance, but after a complaint of noise from the band he was advised to apply for a licence if he wished to continue using the premises for public entertainment, said the Chief City Health Inspector (Mr A P. Millthorpe). The council’s approval was made subject to the requirements of the Chief Fire Officer (Mr L. R. Osmond).
