COAST TRANSPORT OPERATORS
Position Placed Before Minister
(From Our Om Reporter) GREYMOUTH, May 18. Officers of the Road Transport Alliance, and representatives of the 10 truck operators whose work in the South Westland area has been terminated, met the Minister of Lands. Forests and Marine (Mr Gerard) at Harihari yesterday afternoon to place their position before him. The deputation, which was introduced by Mr P. Blanchfield, MJ*., while recognising that the matter did not come within the scope of his portfolios, acquainted the Minister of the facts and the likely consequences for the men whose services had been terminated. Members of the deputation made a request that Mr Gerard would intercede with the Minister of Transport (Mr Goosman) in an endeavour to ameliorate the plight of the dismissed operators.
