TALKS ON BUTTER
“Opposition By N.Z.”
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) DUBROVNIK (Jugoslavia), May 18 New Zealand has resisted a British proposal to hold an international conference on butter and dairy products because she believes it might lead to quotas and allocation of the butter market, according to usually reliable sources. She declared her opposition at a conference at Dubrovnik of the International Federation of Agricultural Producers—at which the proposal was raised—apparently feeling that as a low-cost producer she was willing to compete with anybody on the market. The sources said study of the British proposal had been deferred until the next conference of the federation. The British delegation announced that it would raise the suggestion again then, adding that all interested countries, including buyers and sellers, should attend it.
