Valdon was second and the Aga Khan’s Denebolia. ridden by the Australian, Neville Sellwood, was third. Solitude, the favourite, won by a head, with two lengths between second and third. The winner's stake was worth £11.025.

Right Royal, owned by Mrs Jean Couturies and ridden by Rogpr Poincelet, won the French Two Thousand Guineas.
