Killed By Fall Of Glass
(N.Z. Press Association) N. PLYMOUTH. April 27. The inquest into the death of Trevor Hardwidge, who died in hospital on his eighteenth birthday, February 7, after having been gravely injured the previous day when buried under three tons of falling glass, was concluded today. Hardwidge was working for Smith and Smith. Ltd., in the firm's glass store. The Coroner (Mr N. F. Little) found that death was caused by diffuse brain injury underlying lacerations of the face and skull, acci dentally suffered the previous day when many sheets of glass fell on him. “I cannot say what caused the stack of glass to fall in the first place, but the store is continually vibrating with movement from the trains, and this may have worked the rack loose over a period,’’ said Alfred Milner Wilson, a 61-year-old glazier, in evidence to the Coroner.
