Invitation To North (N .Z.P.A-Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK. April 12. The Main Political Committee of the United Nations today will resume discussion of the Korean situation, in the wake of a United States proposal that Communist North Korea for the first time be allowed, under certain conditions, to take part in the debate. On the procedural question of inviting Korean representatives to take part in the discussion, without voting rights, the Soviet Union has tabled a resolution inviting representatives of both North and South Korea, The United States sponsored another resolution which would invite only South Korea to send a representative. The United States ambassador, Mr Adlai Stevenson, proposed yesterday that North Korea be invited to take part in the debate on Korea if it accepted the “competence and authority” of the United Nations to deal with the Korean question. North Korea had consistently defied United Nations decisions relating to unification of Korea. United Press International said.
