Sir, —In today's issue I see the Minister of Finance, speaking at Ashburton, said it might take up to 12 years to carry out their promise to reduce taxation. What a bleak outlook for old people like myself, now 78 years old! At that rate I will be 90 when the Nationalists carry out their promise. The present Prime Minister said, in his last-year Budget speech, it was urgent to reduce both direct and indirect taxation, and if he was returned he would do it.
