CADET SHOOTING COMPETITION
Canterbury Team Second The Canterbury Sea Cadet Corps A team came second with 783 points out of a possible 800 in the international, competition for sea s-outs in 1960. according to information received in Christchurch from the Navy of Canada. The Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps “Hill Park” won the competition for the Challenge trophy by scoring 793 points. South Africa was third, England fourth, and Australia fifth. The maximum of 100 was scored by S. F. Smythe, of the Canterbury team. Other members of the team also did well, with B. A. McCallum and E. J. Graham each scoring 99. C. W. Ramsay and J A. Campbell 98. R. Bartlett 97 and P. A. Thompson and K. Drewitt 96. Ten countries competed and an estimated 200 cadet corps took part. The targets and scores of the top three teams of each country were sent to Canada, where they were judged by the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association.
