ENGLAND WINS
Scots Beaten, 6-0 (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter-—Copyright) LONDON. March 18. England gained its first Rugbyvictory of the season when it beat Scotland, 6-0 in the Calcutta Cup match at Twickenham today. Scotland, which has won onlv twice at Twickenham, had its hopes of winning the home championship dimmed in a snappy game. Roberts went over for a try in the twenty-second minute and Horrocks-Taylor, who had a fine game at outside-half, kicked a penalty three minutes before the end. The match, though exciting in spells, provided little good Rugby. Players of both sides were often caught in possession, and there was much faulty passing. England w'as a worthy winner. Scotland was perhaps a trifle unlucky to be three points down at half-time, but was smothered by England in the second half. Two last-minute team changes, a slippery ball owing to a heavy rainstorm just before play began, weak penalty kicking by K. Scotland, and the Twickenham bogey proved too much for Scotland. The eleventh - hour team changes wrecked the Scottish team, which was disorganised, and did not resemble the welloiled unit of its previous internationals this season. The forward, M. CampbellLamerton. was badly missed, and the reshuffled pack was completely outplayed by England in both tight and loose.
