Reserve Grade Section

When senior reserve tennis grade section winners were found at Wilding Park on Saturday for the play-off next Satu£da J' section I had a most exciting finish. North Linwood II had beaten Cashmere II to become the section II winner and there was a possibility that two North Linwood teams would play the final North Linwood I and St. Albans, both on eight points, met in section I. St. Albans won by 54 games to 52. The contest went right to the last set. North Linwood I led by 3 matches to 2 when I. Laoy (St. Albans) and M. Munnerley (North Linwood) were playing the last match. La by won the first set and it was Known that he had to win the second set at 6-4 or better for St. Albans to win the cones. Labv was 0-3 down in the second set but he played carefully and fought back magnificently to take the set at 6-3 and give his team the win St. Albans is now likely to win the final for it will be playing the second North Linwood team after beating the top team. Woolston won the first section of the first grade mixed competition after beating Waimairi by 7 matches to 1 in the last round.
