N.Z. Yachts In Two Heats (N.Z Press Assn.—Copyright i BRISBANE. March 19. The New Zealand yacht, Joanne (R. Kean), finished third in the first heat of the world 18-footer championship on the Brisbane river yesterday. A gusty south-easterly breeze played havoc with the' fleet of 11, and only six yachts completed the course. But the other two New Zealand entries. Dilemma (R. Stone) and Vindicator (C. Young), both finished. The heat was won by the New South Wales entry, Jantzen Girl (L Heffernan), with Queensland’s MG 111 (H. Watts) second. The sensation of the race was the capsizing of the highly fancied Queensland entry. Venom (R. Miller), eight minutes before the start. However, Venom won the second heat today. It finished well ahead of Jantzen Girl. Joanne. Dilemma, and Vindicator finished sixth, seventh, and eighth respectively.
