ICE-BREAKER DELAYED
Heavy Seas In Antarctic Heavy seas have delayed the American icebreaker Staten Island, which has been diverted from the Bellinghausen Sea area back to McMurdo Sound. With its speed reduced by one knot the icebreaker is not scheduled to arrive in the sound till Thursday. It was diverted on Wednesday to travel 2000 miles to attempt to recover a fuel storage tanker adrift in the sound. The tanker. YOG 34. which was moored at Hut Point contains 200.000 gallons of aviation fuel.
