Use Of Lancaster Park
Sir.—lt was no doubt poetic justice that washed out the recent M.C.C. test at Lancaster Park, and I wonder what Willie Watson (an ex-England Soccer international) and his fellow “professional’’ players think of the Victory Park Board's decision to bar Soccer players from Lancaster Park. Surely there is a body in Christchurch that can organise a petition among all sports clubs and members of the public and others to whom Lancaster Park belongs to sack or overrule the decision of a few old fogies on the Victory Park Boartf. who. if they have their way. will be robbing the funds of a good "percentage.” as this Soccer match would fill Lancaster Park.—Yours, etc., SPORTSMAN. March 17. 1961.
