U.S. SUBMARINE SETS RECORD
66 Days, 22 Hours Submerged
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter —Copyright) EDINBURGH, March 8. The United States submarine Patrick Henry set up a world record of 66 days 22 hours submerged when she arrived today at Holy Loch. Scotland. The previous record of 66 days and 10 hours was held by the United States submarine George Washington. Patrick Henry travelled more than 11.000 miles before surfacing last night, and reached a depth of more than 400 ft. said her commander (Captain Harold Shear). The submarine carried its full load of 16 Polaris missiles throughout the record cruise.
