Twenty-six cadet midshipmen are aboard the Australian frigate H.M.A.S. Swan, which arrived at Lyttelton from Sydney, by way of Melbourne and Hobart, yesterday afternoon.
H.M.A.S. Swan (Commander N. A. Boase, R.A.N.), which has a crew of 126 officers and men, is on a training cruise, but port congestion at Lyttelton yesterday forced the frigate to anchor in the stream.
Three of the cadet midshipmen are New Zealanders They are W. W. Devin, J. M. Halliday and K. R. Mohan. The Swan will berth this morning, and is expected to sail on Thursday for Wellington, Gisborne, Wellington, and Sydney, where she is due to arrive on March 17.
An officer of the Swan, said that the cadet midshipmen were drawn from naval establishments in Australia, and many of them would rank as midshipmen upon return to Australia. Some of these would go to England later for further training.
