Eggs Hurled About Shop
Eggs and ice-creams were hurled about the grocery shop of Mr Raymond Thackwell at 100 Wilsons road by thieves who broke in on Sunday night It is believed that the intruders were youths. The shop was ransacked and boxes of chocolates and tins of fruit and fish were taken. The quantity of goods stolen is not known.
Goods valued at £7B were stolen from the Hoon Hay Pharmacy at 9 Halswell road. Entry was gained by breaking a window and cosmetics, films, sun glasses, a set of bathroom scales, a camera and a thermos flask were among the articles taken.
A chemist shop operated by Mr A. R. Petrie, of Halswell road, was ransacked, but it is not known yet whether any goods were stolen.
The premises of Arnold France, Ltd., 380 Montreal street, were entered during the week-end by forcing a door, but nothing is known to have been stolen. A window was smashed to gain entry to the premises of the Canterbury Crippled Children Society’s premises at 262 Antigua street, but nothing is believed missing.
