BULK WHEAT HINT
When the special sheets the Railways Department supplies to line the doors of railway waggons for bulk wheat transport run short it is not advisable to set a full size tarpaulin across the waggon. The photograph above, which was taken at a Christchurch flourmill last Saturday, shows what happens when the door is opened. The full size tarpaulin is so wide that it extends well past the door and the weight of grain holds it In place. It is then a difficult job for the mill staff to uiiload. Mr C. J. Crosbie, machinery advisory -officer of the Department of Agriculture in Christchurch, suggests folding the tarpaulin in half so that it will cover the doors with an overlap of about six inches on either side.
