COMMERCIAL Market Firmer And More Active As Week Closes
More active trading and a firmer market marked the close of the week’s trading on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday. Improved prices were paid for Christchurch Gas contributing, Ampol, 8.H.P., Clyde Industries, Hay’s rights and Transport Nelson. Transport Nelson was again a highlight with sales 3d up at Ils 9d and 6d higher at 12s. South British Insurance B dropped Is 3d to 52s 9d. Ballins and Burnetts were also easier. Bank of N.S.W., N.Z. Breweries, Wright Stephenson, J. Watties, M.C.P., Reid Murray and Woolworths sold unchanged.
