Partridges
Sir, —So the poor old farmer suffers again. It s not enough that we have to put up with the ducks and Canadian geese eating our grain but now we ■have added to these the partridge recently liberated in the Lake Ellesmere district. The partridge feeds on grain and other seeds, insects and their larvae and pupae. My guess is that they will not be eating too many insects when grain is so plentiful at this time of the year. Are we to fatten yet another target for the sportsman or can we put a stop to the liberation of these birds before it is too late Yours, etc.,
