Situation.—A ridge of high pressure extends from the east over the North Island, and a trough of low pressure is approaching the South Island from the Tasman Sea. Forecast.— Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh north-west to west winds predominating: partly cloudy and warm at first except for rain in the alps and some scattered light showers and cooler temperatures elsewhere late in the day. Outlook: Showers. Marlborough and Nelson:—Moderate to fresh winds from a northerly quarter; partly cloudy and mild. Outlook: Showers. West Coast.—Moderate to fresh northerly winds, later backing westerly; cloudy, with occasional rain; temperatures mild. Outlook: Showery. *
