TRACKING SPACE CAPSULES
Two Stations For Australia (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, January 22. Australia is building two tracking and communication stations to play an important role in the United States man into space programme. The stations, at the Woomera Rocket Range, and at the township of Muchea, 30 miles from Perth, are expected to be completed and to undergo their final tests within two or three months. The stations are being built by the Department of Supply under the supervision of the Western Electric Company of the United States. The company is building 16 similar stations throughout the world, for the National Aeronautic and Space. Administration "Project Mercury" 'Programme. The stations will receive information about the physical condition of any astronaut in a space capsule as well as verbal messages from him.
