Father Killed By Lightning fNJZ. Press Assn. —Copyright) LONDON, January 23. The South African wing. H. Van Zyl, whose father, Gideon Van Zyl. aged 58. was killed by lightning on his farm today, will fly home to South Africa tomorrow. His departure will be a big blow for the Springbok Rugby Union team, now in the final stages of its British tour. He is the team’s leading try scorer and played in three of the four internationals. The South Africans have one more test before returning home, against France in Paris on February 18.
