ELECTIONS IN KENYA
Severe Setback For Moderates fN.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) NAIROBI. January 24. Mr Michael Blundell's moderate New Kenya Party suffered severe setbacks in yesterday's primary elections for the reserved seats in the new Kenya Legislature. Three of the party's eight candidates failed to achieve the 25 per cent, vote necessary. Mr Blundell himself only just survived to fight in the common roll elections where the African vote will be decisive. He was standing In the Rift Valley against Sir Ferdinand Cavendish-Bentinck, leader of the Coalition Party, who is 71. Observers interpreted the results as indicating strong European opposition to British policy for the colony.
