MISSING RACE TICKETS

£2B Prop For Table Leg “The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND. December 30. An unsteady table in the beer garden reserve at the Ellerslie racecourse, and the concern of a man for the safety of his spilling glass, saved a better £2B worth of totalisator tickets which he had accidentally thrown away with others that were worthless. The tickets, which made a sizeable wad, were recovered by a friend to prop one leg of the wobbly table. When the group left, the tickets stayed. It was not until some time afterwards that the owner realised they were missing. A frantic search through every pocket followed. Then he recalled the unsteady table and the spilling beer.

After a dash to the beer garden he found the previously rocking table still on its makeshift support. In a moment it was returned to its formed unsteadiness and the better was £2B richer.
