S. Payne To Appear
Already this season there have been some good distance performances at the inter-club athletic meetings at Rugby Park but spectators can expect even better in the second half of the season. Several of the province's leading distance runners will be making their first appearances in the New Year. Added interest will be given the events, however, by the decision of Sid Payne to resume full training again after a light programme last year. At the national junior championships in the 1958-59 season, Payne won the two-mile championship. Towards the end of the last harrier season he competed with distinction in some of the longer harrier races.
